MANAGING
THE PROCESS
In the workplace learning situation
the EDUTRAC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM provides an interconnected
record and report database which means the following
are automatically saved and can be easily accessed:
|
| • |
Learner Registration Details |
| • |
Courses Enrolled |
| • |
Assessments and Test
Results |
| • |
Learner Progress |
| • |
Learner Skill Needs Analyses |
| • |
Learner Performance Management |
| • |
Learner Time spent on the System |
| • |
Learner Records and Reports for Training
Evaluation. |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All this is possible because
the technology driven Management System acts
as a delivery mechanism for the test and course
content enabling users to access tests and courses.
To this end the management system draws information
for the database content. To track progress,
the management system writes data back to the
database of any user input and stores records
and reports pertaining to this information input.
The Management System contains all the source
codes that enable the functionality of the EDUTRAC
SYSTEM active Server Page which compiles any
necessary programming code as it is executed
and used.
The Management System retrieves data requested
by a user or administrator from the database
and delivers it by means of a browser (e.g.
Internet Explorer). From the browser the user
is linked to the course content which is in
the form of an HTML or PDF File.
The Management System provides capability for
an administrator to regulate the access to any
course content.
The Management System then stores data retrieved
from user participation and the already mentioned
records, reports, files and information. The
capability of the Management System takes away
many hours of unnecessary paper-work and administration
time. At the start of an intervention the facilitator
will meet with the Line Manager to determine
job expectations in a company. A Skill Need
Analyses is then done with the learner and compared
with the job of the learner. This information
determines the company and learner needs for
course enrollment.
Further management of learner progress is the
Performance Management System in Edutrac to
assist the Line Manager and Learner to work
together in a developmental job-related way.
Job Needs and Performance Measurement together
guide what each learner needs by way of skill
upgrade on an ongoing basis.
The EDUTRAC facilitator is
required to report on learner progress to the
Company, the Line Manager monthly and to the
learner daily and weekly. The facilitator is
also required to review progress weekly and
evaluate monthly for the EDL Group.
The EDL MANAGEMENT GROUP will
interact with clients on a quarterly basis and
will manage Quality Assurance in the process.
Where learners are unemployed the process is
similar however in this case the EDL
FOUNDATION, a part of THE EDL
GROUP, acts as the “Client”
on behalf of the learner.
The Educational Learning for Skill Upgrade in
post-school situations is managed in the same
way and run parallel o core-skill learning.
Fundamental Skills are essential in any job
progress therefore included in Occupational
Learning. |
